Pasquale "Patty" Politi Beloved Husband, Father & E-O South Plainfield, NJ - Pasquale "Patty" Politi, 77, died at his residence on October 12, 2008 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Pasquale has been a resident of South Plainfield for 38 years. A veteran combat soldier of the U.S. Army, Pasquale received a Purple Heart for battle wounds in the Korean War. He also was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal & Bronze Star Attachment and the United Nations Medal. Employed by Hertz-Penske as a mechanic for 25 years, and most recently, retired from the Borough of South Plainfield as a mechanic after 14 years, he loved his job at the ""Borough"" and valued the many friendships he made there. He often expressed love for his town and country. He served his country in the 2nd Infantry (Indianhead) Div. and was especially proud of his combat division, the first to reach Korea from the US to slow the spread of communism. Pasquale was truly a ""Warrior"" for his family and country. He loved fixing things and was always ""there"" to help family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Santoro) and by his children; daughter Suzanne and her husband Keith Goldberg of Scotch Plains and sons Robert and his wife Stefanie of Clinton and Christopher and Tracy of South Plainfield. His five grandchildren; Alyssa, Michael, Ava Grace, Gabriella and Nicholas, lovingly called him "E-O", and will miss him dearly. Pasquale is predeceased by four older siblings. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 beginning 9:30 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Interment will follow in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery also in South Plainfield. Relatives and friends may attend the visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Pasquale Politi may be sent to the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research at www.virtualtrials.com.
