Obituary of Fiorvanti "Foo" Riccardi

Fiorvanti "Foo" Riccardi South Plainfield, NJ - Fiorvanti "Foo" Riccardi, 92, passed away on September 18, 2010 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Plainfield, Mr. Riccardi resided in South Plainfield since 1948. For twenty years, he had owned and operated Riccardi Trucking and had operated his truck out of the Fanwood Quarry. In the 1960's and 1970's, he was a heavy equipment operator for D&S Construction Co. and from 1976-1983 he was employed by the Jesco Co. in South Plainfield as an equipment operator. Mr. Riccardi worked part time delivering auto parts for Buy Rite Auto Parts in South Plainfield. A veteran of WWII, he was honorably discharged from the United States Army, having gained the rank of Staff Sergeant and had been with the ground crew of the Air Force while he was stationed in England, Africa and Italy. He had been an avid bowler for many years and belonged to many bowling leagues. His highest bowling game was a 298. Mr. Riccardi was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 478 of Newark. He is predeceased by his wife Rose who died in 1998 and by his siblings; Violet Pizza, Elinor Poklitar, Evelyn Santy, Carmella Merrill and Michael Riccardi. He leaves behind his loving sons; Gregory and his wife Donna of Piscataway and Patrick and his wife Donna of South Plainfield. He will be missed by his five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and by his siblings; Mary Pizza, Madeline Brueno, Anthony, Irving and Frank Riccardi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 beginning 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Mausoleum Entombment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, New Jersey Chapter, 246 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ 07755 would be greatly appreciated.
