James M. Painton
Somerset - James M. Painton, 57, died on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Plainfield on October 11, 1951, he is the son of Eleanor and the late George Painton. Jim was raised and resided in South Plainfield before moving to Somerset in 2003. Mr. Painton proudly served in the United States Navy after graduating from South Plainfield High School in 1969. He attended Middlesex County College in Edison, where he was and illustrator and journalist of the campus newsletter. Following Middlesex County College Jim also Jim attended Bloomfield College.
Soon after, Jim started his own graphic arts service bureau, Painton Studios, Inc. in 1979 and will be remembered as an extremely talented artist and musician with the ability to make everyone smile.
His father George died in 1999.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Mrs. Joan Painton, his mother Eleanor Cummings and her husband Joe, his sister Nancy Belardo and her husband Joseph, his brother George "Bud" , his sons; James and his wife Dale and Dustin and his wife Dana all of South Plainfield, his daughters; Lisa Secula and her husband Michael of Bethlehem, PA., and Laura "Pooch" Painton of Rockville, MD., and his brother and sister in law Charles Kovach and his wife Linda of Piscataway.
Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren; Tanner, Dylan, Luke, Jacob, Gabriel, Christopher and Rebecca as well as countless loving friends and extended relatives.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 10:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 11:00 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
