Joan R. M. Boylan Edison- Joan R.M. Boylan, 77, died on Thursday January 22, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Waterbury, Ct., Joan was raised in Naugatuck, Ct. and had resided in Westfield for 36 years before settling in Edison in 1995. She was the office manager & nurse for her husband's pediatric practice, Dr. Joseph I. Boylan, Jr. The practice, located in Westfield, operated for 36 years before Joan and Dr. Boylan both retired in 1995. She previously was an Assistant Professor at Yale Medical Center in the Pediatric Nursing department. Joan was a 1953 graduate of Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA. She earned a B.S.E.D. Degree & a Registered Nursing Degree. During her lifetime, she & her husband where active with Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts. Surviving are her husband, Joseph I. Boylan, Jr., MD, her children, Jerilyn Campbell and her husband, Jeffrey S., of Scotch Plains, Jane Pedinoff and her husband, Andrew J., MD of Belle Mead, Joseph A. Boylan of Atlanta, Ga. and Jeffrey D. Boylan and his wife, Margaret Ann of Nevada City, Ca. Also survivng is a brother, Robert J. Mazaika of Oxford Ct. and 8 Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ. 07080. Family and Friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering from 1-3 PM, Saturday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to the Development Office of the VNA of Central Jersey Hospice Program, 176 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ. 07701. (www.VNACJ.org ).
