Obituary of John Robert Cibak

South Plainfield - John Robert "Bob" Cibak, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 5, 2014 at Arista Care at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield. His family was by his side. Born and raised in North Braddock, PA, Bob was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He moved to New York City in the 1960's, where he met his wife Barbara. After marriage, Bob and Barbara lived in Weehawken, NJ before settling in South Plainfield in 1970. Bob was employed as a machinist for over 35 years, until his retirement. After retirement, Bob worked briefly as a school crossing guard in South Plainfield, and drove a school bus in Piscataway. A faithful communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church, Bob enjoyed fishing, especially with his granddaughter Kira. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid model train collector. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Barkhau); two daughters, Robyn Sison and husband Ray of Robbinsville and Cheryl Cibak of Bedminister; two brothers; Jimmy and Ronnie Cibak of Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his two cherished granddaughters; Kira Cibak and Karly Sison, Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Tuesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM in the funeral home.
