Obituary of Salvatore Testa

South Plainfield - Salvatore "Sam" Testa, 94, died Wednesday January 21, 2015 at VA New Jersey Healthcare System in Lyons. Born in Piscataway to the late Carmine and Anna (Lillo), Sam is a life long resident of South Plainfield. A WWII Army Veteran, Sam served as a Private First Class, he received a Purple Heart from injuries sustained during combat in France. He returned state side, working for Standard Plastic and then Mattel Toy Co. as a supervisor prior to retirement at age 55. He was a life member of the South Plainfield Italian American Club and assisted with the construction of the building. Predeceased by his wife who died in 2004, Ruth, two daughters, Judith Krempa and Ruth "Cookie" Ferraro and five siblings. He is survived by a daughter, Doreen Bolesta and husband Butch; son - in - law, Frank Ferraro and seven grandchildren; Stephen, Ricky, Frank, Tony, John, Allison and Christine and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield at 10AM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday from 3-6PM in the funeral home.
