Obituary of Frank J. Detz

Middlesex, NJ - Frank J. Detz, 80, passed away on February 8, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Mount Carmel, PA to his late parents Francis M. and Angela (Payewski) Detz, he had lived in Somerville until moving to Middlesex in 1962.
On July 27, 1957, Frank was honorably discharged from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Korean Conflict. After many years of employment with General Motors Corporation in New Brunswick, he retired as an Assembly Line Inspector.
Frank was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the American Legion Post #304 in Manville, was a former fireman with the Middlesex Fire Department and the special police in Middlesex.
Frank was very good with his hands and in his younger days enjoyed building and sketching. A true family man, he was known for his sense of humor and will be missed by all those that knew him.
He is predeceased by his five siblings; Edward, John and Thomas Detz, Lucille Debacco and Agatha Klacik.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Jean (DeBlass) Detz, his cherished children; Ken and his wife Caroline of Randolph, NJ, Sharon Matuszak and her husband Frank of Middletown and Frank and his wife Lisa of Tatamy, PA. He also leaves behind eight adored grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 2016 beginning 8:45 am followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to Our Lady of Mount Virgin, Major Renovation Fund, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ 08846 would be appreciated.
