Obituary of Barry J. Christ

Manville - Barry J. Christ 47, died on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Plainfield Barry grew up in South Plainfield graduating from S.P.H.S. Class of 1984. In 1993 Barry settled to Manville. Prior to working for his current employer Aramark, a subcontractor for Drew University in Madison, Barry worked for the former Lombardi Striping in South Plainfield for 20 years. For many years, Barry ran his #52 dirt race car in the Sportsman Class at the East Windsor, New Egypt and Flemington Raceways. His additional hobbies included fishing, bowling , playing golf along with crossword puzzles. He was also a fan of NASCAR , NY Rangers and the Detroit Lions but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents Barbara and John Christ of South Plainfield, two sisters; Barbara Del Nero and her husband Darrell of Manville and Nora Christ of South Plainfield, four brothers; John and his wife Terri of South Plainfield, Jeffrey and his wife Roseann of Union Beach, Christopher and his wife Lisa of South Plainfield and Thomas and his wife Kristine of Maplewood. Also surviving are his 12 nieces and nephews; Mallory, Johnny, Kendall, Natalie, Jeffrey, Angelina, Isaiah, Siana-Lee, Thomas, Taylor, Olivia and Lucas. Barry will also be missed by many of his loving extended relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6-9pm and on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 4-8pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 8PM in the funeral home. Cremation services will be held privately on Thursday, July 18, 2013. In Lieu of Flowers donation can be made to the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation www.jeffgordonchildrensfoundation.org
