David T. Curtis South Plainfield - David T. Curtis, 85, died on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Plainfield, David grew up in South Plainfield and resided in North Plainfield for most of life before recently settling back to South Plainfield. He had served in the US Navy during WW II aboard the supply ship, USS Appanoose, in the South Pacific before being honorably discharged in 1946. David was employed as a Rural Letter carrier for the US Postal Service in the Plainfield Post Office for many years before his retirement in 1979. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Storr Richie Post #506 of Plainfield and in his younger years, enjoyed being an avid hunter and fisherman. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary A. Curtis who died in November of 2010, a sister Eleanor Jairdullo and a brother, George Curtis. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Costabile and her husband Dominick of South Plainfield. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 7:30 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Family and friends are invited to join together for the visitation preceding the services on Thursday from 4-7:30 PM.
