Obituary of Jeanne M. McElwee

Jeanne McElwee South Plainfield - Jeanne ( Walker ) McElwee, 92, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Woodlands Care Center in Plainfield. Born and raised in Elizabeth, she settled to South Plainfield in 1948. Jeanne and her late husband, Fran, were long time, devoted volunteers and foster parents for the United Family and Children Society of Plainfield. Since 1957 they have cared for over 200 newborn babies. In addition, she is a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and was the honored at the 1996 church dedication to the Right to Life Statue by the late Pastor, Very Reverend Michael McGuire for her services to so many newborns. In addition to her husband, Fran who died in 1998, she is predeceased by two daughters, Maureen McElwee in 1954 and Kathleen Olimpio in 1979 and four siblings. Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Flavin of Maryland, eight grandchildren, Megan, Kelly, Christopher and Patrick "Walker" and Chad, Ryan, Eric and Jason Olimpio and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 9:00 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Family and friend may attend the visitation hours on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
