Obituary of Catherine Mercuri

Green Brook - Catherine ( Sibio ) Mercuri, 69, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 4,2015 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC surrounded by her family. Born in Calabria Italy, to the late George and Maria, she came to the United States in 1958 and lived in Plainfield. Catherine later resided in North Plainfield and Piscataway prior settling to Green Brook in 1975. Catherine has worked at a beautician for the former Jo Mar Beauty Salon in Piscataway prior to staying home to raise her three children. Catherine was the matriarch of the family and enjoyed all the time spent with them. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered as the best wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her devoted husband of 51 years, George, three children; daughters, Gina Mercuri, and Marisa Marzella and her husband, Angelo. Son, George; two sisters, Yolanda Adornato and Josephine Vocisano and two beloved granddaughters; Isabelle Mercuri and Giuliana Catherine Marzella. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 8:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Washington Avenue, Dunellen, NJ at 9 AM. Entombment will follow mass in Resurrection Burial Park Mausoleum, Piscataway, NJ. Family and friend are invited to join together for visitation on Wednesday from 4-9 PM in the funeral home.
