South Plainfield - Adam J. Valeri, 75, died suddenly on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at his home.
Born and raised in Highland Park, Adam settled to South Plainfield in 1965.
Initially enlisted in the US Army, Adam served a short time before being transferred to the Army National Guard, where he served our country as a supply sergeant for several years.
Adam began a 60 plus year career as a hairdresser at the former Lady Fair Hair Salon in Highland Park. In 1965, he and his wife opened and have been operating Artists & Models Hair Design in South Plainfield ever since.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golfing. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball. Most importantly, he enjoyed his time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years; Marion E. (Pellegrino), a daughter; Susan Duarte, son in law, Ed Koznowicz, sister; Madeline Colbert and two grandchildren; Samantha Pereira and Paulie Duarte and he will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, in laws, friends and clients.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
