Obituary of Robert Tortorelli

Robert J. Tortorelli South Plainfield - Robert J.Tortorelli, 65, died on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born and raised in Jersey City, Bob and his wife Joan settled to South Plainfield 35 years ago. For the past 13 years Mr. Tortorelli worked as an outside salesman for Cooper Electric Supply Company in Jersey City but served the Electrical Construction Industry for 45 years. He was a 3rd Degree Knight with the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council 6203 and was also a member of the South Plainfield Italian American Progressive League. Bob was a diehard Yankees and Jets fan. He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City, going to the track and strolling down the boardwalk as well as playing cards with his friends, but more importantly, Bob enjoyed and took pride in his family. He was a devout husband, an admired father, a genuine grandfather and a good friend to many. In addition to his wife Joan (McGreevy) surviving are his son Michael of South Plainfield his daughter Karen Waldorf and her husband Eric of Piscataway,, his two grandchildren; Nathan and Chase Waldorf and his brother Daniel Tortorelli and his wife Patricia of East Brunswick Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4-8 PM in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
