Obituary of Edwin Cardona

South Plainfield - Edwin Cardona, 38, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Edwin lived for most of his life in South Plainfield. He attended Midland School in Branchburg and received an honorary Diploma from South Plainfield High School. Edwin was currently enrolled in the Rutgers Adult Program on the College's Douglass Campus. Known as the "Pop Culture Guru," by his family, Edwin was a devoted Yankees fan who always followed current events. Surviving are his parents; Edwin and Silma Cardona, brother, Michael Cardona and girlfriend, Mary Sanchez, Aunts, Awilda Alvarez and husband Salvador Birrel and Maria Alvarez both of Puerto Rico, Bruni Ramos and husband Roberto of South Plainfield and Uncle Angel Cardona and wife Janice of Aberdeen. Edwin also leaves behind numerous cousins, extended family, and friends. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday, May 8th from 3-8PM in the funeral home.
