Edison - Dorothy M. Montecalvo, 77, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ, she settled to Edison 55 years ago.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had worked as a hairstylist in Plainfield many years ago, but devoted most of her life to her family as a homemaker. As a long time communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, she had been active in the PTA and assisted in the cafeteria while her children attended school there.
She was an excellent cook and a die hard Yankee Fan who will be most remembered for her devotion to her family.
Predeceased by her sister, Julianna Straka and her brother, Andrew "Sonny" Ribar. Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years; John G., her three children; Yvonne D. Montecalvo, Donna M. Montecalvo and Gerard A. Montecalvo and his wife, Donna. A brother; James Ribar and five dear grandchildren; Anthony Buza, Jaclyn Buza, Jessica Buza, Dominic Montecalvo and Michael Montecalvo.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080
followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield .
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org)
