Lois E. Colburn Goodview, VA- Lois E. (Jenkins) Colburn, 91, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, VA. Born in Lisbon, ME, Lois resided in South Plainfield for most of her life before moving to Goodview, VA in 1992. Employed as a Nurse's Aide for twenty-two years at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Lois retired in 1992. Avid in knitting and quilting, Lois belonged to many organizations where she could help those in need. She could often be found knitting gloves, hats and baby blankets for Muhlenberg Hospital, Roanoke Community Hospital and Lewis Gayle Hospital. She was featured in The Newark Star Ledger and The Lake Shorelines having the gift of warmth and dedicating her time knitting, quilting, rug hooking and sewing. She is predeceased by her brothers Raymond, Melvin and Norman Jenkins and sister Phyllis Madsen. Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Colburn, Sr., two daughters, Joyce Skerlanitz of Piscataway and Nancy Higgins and her husband David of Goodview, VA and her son Robert W. Colburn, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Whitehouse. She also leaves behind her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 beginning at 10:00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by an 11:00 AM service. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2600 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
