James S. Taylor
South Plainfield, NJ - James S. Taylor, 85, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Prescott, MA to his late parents James and Elizabeth (Flynn) Taylor and has been a resident of South Plainfield since 1957.
James was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after serving his country during WWII as a Pharmacist's Mate, 3rd Class. After his discharge from the service, James graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1951 with a degree in Chemistry. For over forty years, he was employed by GAF (presently known as ISP) where he had worked as a Chemist in Wayne, NJ.
He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, he enjoyed golf and traveling with his family. A volunteer at the Salvation Army, James was known as "Mr Fix-It" and up until their closing, he was a volunteer at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
James is predeceased by his parents, his sister Marion and by his brother Robert.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife Fleurette (Antaya) of fifty-nine years and his children; James and Ann Marie of Toms River, Stephen of California and Ann Foley of Ohio. James also leaves behind his granddaughter Alexandra, grandson Caelen and by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 beginning 9:15am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. At the request of the family, cremation will be held privately.
Family and friends may attend the visitation on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 3-6pm and on Monday from 9:00am until the service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 09681 would be appreciated.
