Obituary of Carmen P. DiCanto

Carmen P. DiCanto passed away on Friday morning, February 6, 2015. Battling ALS, a terminal motor-neuron disease, for over two years, he passed peacefully in his home.
Carmen was born January 6, 1952 in Rahway, NJ and grew up in Edison, NJ. He graduated from Edison High school in 1970. There he met the love of his life, Christine, at the tender age of 16, and they married in 1972. Carmen and Christine spent their time playing music, hiking, gardening, and raising their only daughter, Allison.
Carmen was a passionate and intellectual man with hobbies/interests such as carpentry, auto mechanics, poetry, photography, astronomy, and a love for classic rock as well as classical music. He had a great passion for music and was a talented pianist and accordion player. He held two associates degrees in electrical engineering and applied science, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Rutgers University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Carmen was a loving husband and father, and loyal friend to those who knew his heart. He will be greatly missed but his love for life lives on in us all.
Carmen is survived by his wife - of 43 years - Christine DiCanto, his only daughter Allison DiCanto, her partner Crystal (Jess) Colmenero, his sister Angelica DiCanto, and his cherished family and friends.
