Stephen L. Machat Age: 90 * Hillsborough, NJ Hillsborough, NJ - Stephen L. Machat, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Foothill Acres Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough. Born in New York City, son of the late Louis and Anna (Moor) Machat, he grew up in Woodbridge, lived fifty-two years in South Plainfield and moved to Hillsborough in 2012. Stephen faithfully served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He earned a BS degree from the Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and worked 28 years for Research Cottrell in Branchburg where he was employed as an Electrical Engineer. He loved traveling, photography and could always be found in his garden. Stephen enjoyed the stock market and during his retirement, whether it be reading to children and the blind, or assisting the elderly with their tax returns, he loved to volunteer his time. He was a long time member of Cedarcroft Bible Chapel and was also active at the South Plainfield Senior Center. He is survived by his loving family; wife Marjorie (Radcliffe) Machat, two sons; Eric and wife Kathy of Colchester, VT and Gerald and wife Helen of Hillsborough; eight grandchildren; Drew, Marie, Bradley, Lincoln, Samuel, Timothy, Christopher and Gregory and two great-grandchildren; Rise and Eponine. He is also survived by a brother, Edward Machat. He was predeceased by brother William Machat and sister Josephine Breza. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation at Cedarcroft Bible Chapel, 1715 Kenyon Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:00 am, followed by an 11:00 am memorial service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may made to the Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
