Obituary of Angela Dowdy

Metuchen - Angela (Criscitello) Dowdy, 63, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY Angela had been a resident of Metuchen since 1978. Mrs. Dowdy was parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Metuchen, Angela served the church as a Eucharistic Minister and was a former CCD teacher. A graduate of St. John's University in New York, Angela received a double Bachelor Degree in Education and Sociology. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies she attended Kean University in Union where she earned her Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist, she also holds a Certificate in Special Education. Angela worked for the Edison Board of Ed, for the last 18 + years, she was dedicated to all of her students and loved making an impact on their young lives. To say that she was involved in the daily life of Ben Franklin Elementary School would be an understatement. She was predeceased by her parents Helen and Anthony Criscitello. Surviving is her loving husband and best friend Robert and her son Christian both of Metuchen; her brother, Anthony Criscitello of Edison and many loving relatives and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:15AM funeral mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Metuchen Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-9pm in the funeral home.
