South Plainfield - Richard S. Yurek, 70, died Thursday December 4, 2014 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. Born in Bayonne, Richard resided in Elizabeth and Linden before settling to South Plainfield in the early 1970's. A graduate of NJIT, Richard started his engineering career with Saybolt Core Laboratories, today Core Labs, as an analyst and chemical engineer. He was instrumental with the company traveling between Kenilworth, Houston, Texas and all over the world. A retired Special Police officer in South Plainfield, Richard is communicate of Sacred Heart Church. He was also a 3rd degree knight with the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by a sister, Jean, surviving are his wife, H. Theresa - Wolke Yurek (Pellegrino); children. Sandra Klinck and husband, Christopher, Dianne Yurek, Richard S. Jr and Andrew Wolke and wife Pamela and sister, Christine Conrad and husband Robert. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew, Brielle, Ava, Cruze and Dylan and by his long time coworkers and friends, Charles and Diane Newell of Saratoga, NY and Bob Paulson of Long Beach, CA. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 9AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM. Family and friends may attend visitation on Monday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
