Obituary of Robert A. Nelson

Iselin - Robert A. Nelson, 67, died suddenly Sunday, July 20, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Bronx, N.Y., Robert enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Cuba for six months and Vietnam for thirteen. He moved to Iselin in 1977, with his wife Maryann where they raised their children. Retiring from U.S. Cable of Montvale in April of 2013 as a Director of Operations, he enjoyed his time target shooting and playing golf. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann (Russo) of Iselin, two daughters; Denise Waldron and husband Don of South Plainfield and Michele Masino and husband Michael of Bayville, son, Donald and wife Andrea of Harleysville, PA and sister, Vicky Taheri of Burtonsville, Maryland. He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren; Alyssa, Michael, Arianna, Dominic, Ava, Keira, Amanda, Molly and Nora. Funeral services will begin on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 8:45AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in St. Cecelia Church, 45 Wilus Way Iselin, NJ 08830 at 10AM. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM in the funeral home.
