Obituary of Adam J. Seider

South Plainfield - Adam J. Seider, Jr., 91, died on Wednesday evening August 7, 2013 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison two days shy of his 92nd birthday. Born to the late Adam and Teresia in New York Harbor aboard the SS New Amsterdam, the family settled in South Plainfield, which became Adam's lifelong residence. Adam served his country proudly during WWII as an M.P. in the United States Army. He served stateside until his discharge. He was employed as a Template Maker for Harris Steel in South Plainfield for over 40 years prior to his retirement. In his younger years, Adam enjoyed performing along with his brother Jake in their band, The Blue Comets. Adam was an accomplished musician who played the accordion and the organ. Adam was a true gentleman who always treated people with the utmost kindness and respect. He took pleasure in coming to the aid of anyone in need, and was always there to greet everyone he met with a smile and a friendly wave. He is predeceased by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Mary Tooz Seider, who died in 2009, and a brother, Jacob Seider, who died in 1977. Surviving are two loving children, Suzanne (William) Butrico of South Plainfield and Gerald (Gerri Mason) of Warminster, PA; a sister, Magdalena Zawadzki of South Plainfield; and four adoring grandchildren, Laura and Caryn Butrico, Alison (Jay) Kaplan, and Michael (Aleksandra) Seider. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who were cherished by him. He will remain forever in all their hearts. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August, 13, 2013 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Sturge-Weber Foundation, P.O. Box 418. Mt.
