Virginia Beach, VA - Evelyn D. (Bolster) Massa, 89, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Seaside Nursing Home in Virginia Beach. Born in the Bronx, NY on October 23, 1923, Evelyn moved to South Plainfield at the age of 16 and had resided in town until relocating to Seaside at Atlantic Shores of Virginia Beach in March of 2011. Evelyn was most proud of her eight brothers who served during WWII. She was particularly proud of her brother Joseph who served with the Navy at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. She was the youngest and also the last surviving sibling of 19. In addition to all of her siblings, Evelyn is predeceased by her husband of sixty one years who died in January 2011; Anthony. Surviving are her four children; Susan Plews of Florida, Philip and his wife Marilyn of Virginia Beach, VA., Anthony and his wife Pam of Flemington and James of Virginia Beach, VA. Also surviving are five beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a fifth great grandchild expected in August. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave,. South Plainfield NJ 07080. At the request of the family, they have invited everyone to wear yellow during the funeral as it was Evelyn's favorite color. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia. Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 6-9PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to a local ASPCA or animal shelter of your choice.
