Manahawkin - Robert "Bob" Zawacki, Sr., 73, died Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Arcadia Nursing & Rehab in Little Egg Harbor. Born in Rahway, Bob resided in South Plainfield for 27 years before settling to Manahawkin in 2003. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1963. He went on to work for Merck & Co. as a pipe fitter in Rahway until his retirement. Bob was a member of St. Mary of the Pines RC Church in Manahawkin and a member of Beach Haven NJ Moose Lodge 1575. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and played first base for Merck's Mechanical mens softball team. Additionally, Bob was an avid South Plainfield Wrestling enthusiast and faithful supporter of the high school team and recreational program. He could often be found in the stands supporting all wrestlers for many years. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eileen (Anthony), daughter, Donna Roudi and husband Michael, two sons; Robert Jr. and his long term girlfriend Jill Malia and Paul. He will also be missed by three grandchildren; Taylor, Dean and Olivia. Funeral services will begin on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 9:15AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM. Family and friends may attend visitation on Sunday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
