Obituary of Norman R. Chicarelli

South Plainfield - Norman R. Chicarelli, 85, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born in Plainfield, he had resided in South Plainfield for most of his life and was a graduate of North Plainfield High School. Norman was a master mechanic initially working for F. Day Company and retired from Harper's Auto Service in North Plainfield. He was a member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus, a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where he was a member of the church choir and a member of South Plainfield Senior citizens. In his young years, Norman excelled in Baseball where he played high school ball and later for Dreier's Sporting Goods in various leagues. He is predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, his son, Richard and his brother, Arthur Sr. Surviving are a daughter; Patricia Chicarelli of Toms River, sister; Katherine Gangemi of Dunellen, granddaughter; Amy Kuhnen and a great grandson, Gunner. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart RC Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2-5 pm In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to South Plainfield Knights of Columbus or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
