South Plainfield - Joseph J. Paladino , passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Care One - The Highlands in Edison. Born in Jersey City to the late John and Stella, he was raised in South Plainfield and had resided in various towns in New Jersey and Florida before settling to Toms River. He lived in Toms River for a number of years before returning to Plainfield and setting to South Plainfield in 2014. Joseph was a skilled craftsman, working as a carpenter by trade, he had been employed by the Carpenters Union prior to his retirement. He continued to work small part time job and projects until he was no longer physically able. He is a former Commander and Charter member of the South Plainfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #6763 and former member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council #6203. Predeceased by his wife, Theodora who died in 1996 and a sister, Katherine Smith. Surviving are his sister, Geraldine Lima of South Plainfield, two nieces; Deborah Erceg and Kathleen Appello, and three great nephews; Vincent, Brandon and Daniel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM in the Chapel at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Family and friend may attend the visitation on Wednesday from 9:00AM until 9:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
