Harry Popik
Watchung - Harry Popik, 84, died on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown.
Born and raised in South Plainfield, Harry and his wife Jean settled to Watchung 31 years ago.
Harry held the community of South Plainfield at heart, particularly Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church where he was a lifelong and dedicated parishioner. He participated in many of the church functions and activities and also served on several church committees including the finance committee.
Along with his son Jeffrey, he was the owner and operator of Nischwitz and Co.
Throughout most of his life, Harry was an active member of the South Plainfield Lions Club District 16-D and was recently acknowledged for his 50 years of committed service to the organization.
Mr. Popik is a former member of the South Plainfield Board of Health and is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is predeceased by a sister Mary Popik and by two brothers; Michael and George.
In addition to his loving wife of 60 years Jean, surviving are his daughter Kathy Schuhlein and her husband Bill of Boca Raton, Fl., his son Jeffrey and his wife Suzanne of South Plainfield, his sister Anna Wanca also of South Plainfield and by his two grandchildren; Sarah and Nick Schuhlein.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 10:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by an 11am funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield.
Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
