South Plainfield - Janice K. Spear, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at her son's home. Born and raised in Dickinson, N.D., Janice was one of 15 children born to the late Mary & Frank Marsh. She resided in various locations in the United States before settling to New Jersey. She lived in Piscataway before settling to South Plainfield in 1969. Working in various capacities for most of her life, Janice enjoyed being a seamstress in her younger years, serving as a customer service representative for the former Pan Am Airlines in NYC, a school bus driver and later as a manager of ABC Nursery School before retiring from Key Tech in Keyport. She enjoyed bowling in various leagues and the knitting club at the South Plainfield Senior Citizens where they provided warmth for needy children and veterans. Predeceased by her siblings, Emma Ridil, Mary Hurrick, Albert Marsh, Betty Beyers, Tillie Frenzel, Sylvan Marsh, Dolly Hahn and Frank Marsh. Surviving are her son, Wesley A. Spear II and his wife, Jennie Ann Hudson; daughter, Kandythe K. Zdep and her husband, Scott; four grandchildren, Wesley III, Daniel, Scott and Avery; siblings: Edward Marsh, Laudie Marsh, Steve Marsh, Harriet Kostelecky, Robert Marsh and Marcella Larsen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family Funeral services will be held privately. In her memory, the family is requesting that a donation be made to the Center For Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 or to a charity of one's choice.
