South Plainfield - Edward W. Buechert, 79, died Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway.
Born in Newark, Edward resided in Hillside before settling to South Plainfield in the late 1960's.
A 19 year U.S. Army Reserve Staff Sergeant, Edward worked for PSE&G in Plainfield for 45 years as a gas man prior to retirement.
Edward will be remembered as great father, grandfather and a family man.
Predeceased by his wife of 52 years, who passed away in September of 2014, Shirley, surviving are four children, Andrew and wife Ana Silvia of Manville, Brian of South Plainfield, Craig and wife Melanie of South Plainfield and Diane Pacifico and husband Douglas of Martinsville.
He will also be missed by his three grandchildren, Melissa Nicole Buechert and Nicholas and Paige Pacifico.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday January 23, 2015 from 7-9PM. Funeral services will begin at 8:45PM in the funeral home.
Cremation will follow privately.
