South Plainfield - Joseph J. Venitelli, Sr. 52, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Born in Bound Brook, Joe has been a life long resident of South Plainfield.
He is a graduate of East Brunswick Vocational Technical School and has been employed as a mechanic for most of his life. He had been employed by the Scotch Plains - Fanwood Board of Education and previously worked for New Perones in North Plainfield.
Joe enjoyed restoring his 1969 Camaro, drag racing, hunting duck and pheasant and was known to be a gourmet cook. He was also a member of the NRA and the NHRA, but found true joy in being a dear father and loving husband, brother and son.
Predeceased by his nephew, Ryan Ortleb, he leaves behind his heartbroken wife, Maureen McCormick, two children; Joseph J, Jr. & Eryn Bella, parents; Don & Ann ( Tweet ), siblings; Donna Ortleb & her husband, Randy, Diane and David & his wife, Karla. His mother in law, Eileen McCormick, sister in law, Julianne McCormick-Anesh & her husband, Wayne, brothers in law; Michael McCormick and his wife, Michelle and Sean McCormick. His 7 nieces and nephews; Randi Gardener and her husband, John and their son, Ryan, Daniel, Alexandra, Shaylin Venitelli, Michael, Elizabeth & Ceara McCormick and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 9 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for his children's educational needs
