South Plainfield - Nina "Antonina" Basilone (DiPasquale) passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on December 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Somerville on October 13, 1925, she resided in Raritan for over 65 years before relocating to South Plainfield. A homemaker, Nina enjoyed gardening and especially cooking eggplant parmesan, roasted red peppers and homemade tomato sauce for her family.
Devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nina enjoyed spending summers with them in Lavallette. She was the sister in law of WWII Marine Hero Gunnery Sargent John Basilone.
Predeceased by her husband, George, parents, Anthony and Giovanna "Mit" (Papera) and granddaughter, Monique Basilone; She is survived by her loving sons and their spouses, John and Patricia of South Plainfield, with who she lived with had been cared for the past 25 years and Derek and wife Maryann of Hillsborough; loving grandchildren, Kristen Valluzzi and husband Joe of South Plainfield, Justin Basilone and girlfriend Joelle and Briana Basilone and boyfriend Vinny; great grandchildren, Ava Rae, Joseph Rocco and Jack George; her favorite dog, Peetey and many cherished cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080.
Entombment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
May she finally rest in peace - we love you Neen and will miss you terribly!!
