Obituary of Robert B. Jones

Bloomington, NY & Formerly of Middlesex, NJ - Robert B. Jones, 60, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Center for Hope Hospice located in Scotch Plains. Born in Bronx, NY to his father Martin and late mother Joan (O'Rourke) Jones, Bobby was raised in Middlesex NJ and settled in the Hudson Valley area in 1980. Bobby was a software engineer for IBM located in Poughkeepsie, NY. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing, had a love for Ocean City, NJ and was an avid animal lover. When he encountered strangers, it didn't matter who you were, Bobby always went out of his way to ask your name and when he said thank you, he was truly caring and genuine about it. Bobby's boisterous belly laugh will be missed by all those that knew him. Predeceased by his mother Joan, he leaves behind his loving and devoted family; father Martin of Middlesex, sisters JoAnne Hamershock and her husband Robert of Brick and Maureen Jones of Flemington, niece Christine Stay and her husband Tom of West Islip, NY, nephew Robert Hamershock of Jersey City, aunts Eileen Gigante and Theresa Jones along with his "very best friend" Annie Kuhar of Raleigh, NC and very supportive cousins and friends. Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 beginning 8:45am. On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, funeral services will begin 9:15am in the funeral home followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. At the request of the Jones family, cremation will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent in Bobby's name to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 or to your local SPCA would be appreciated.
