Las Vegas - Lucy M. Schiappa, 100, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2016 at Vintage Park of San Martin in Las Vegas, NV.
Born in Plainfield, Lucy resided in South Plainfield for most of her life before settling to Las Vegas in 2000.
Lucy was a former communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. She will be remembered for being full of life and enjoying dancing. Before her passing, Lucy was able to see her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren during her 100th birthday celebration.
Predeceased by her husband, Orlando who died in 1977 and daughter, Dolores Szumski who died in 2002, surviving are her son, Bernie Schiappa of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Lucy Adorna and husband Joe, Deborah Spooner, Alan Szumski all of South Plainfield, Georgette Luyber and Jennifer Belcastro; eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Cremation services were private.
Lucy's cremated remains will be interred with her beloved husband, Orlando in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 1734 Clinton Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 at 11AM on Saturday June 11, 2016.
