Norman W. Snoden, 89, died on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Center For Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born in Plainfield on April 28, 1927. He resided in Watchung and Plainfield prior to settling in South Plainfield 42 years ago. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Snoden served with the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, Norman worked for PSE&G in customer operations, retiring after 32 years of service. Mr. Snoden was a former member of the Plainfield Kiwanis Club and served the Plainfield Little League as League Commissioner and Manager for over 30 years. He was honored in 1987 with a key to the City of Plainfield for his commitment to the city's youth. He is predeceased by his parents Ruth (Colthar) and Walter M. Snoden, and son-in-law Dr. Kenneth Avery. Surviving are his wife of 67 years Patricia (Simpson); daughters Susan Kelly and her husband Robert of Myrtle Beach, SC and Barbara Avery of South Plainfield, and three grandchildren, Craig Kelly and Cathryn and Douglas Avery. Cremation Services were held privately under the direction of the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
