White House Station- Laila D. George, 83, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Born in Newark, the daughter of the late David and Badiah Hanna, Laila resided in West Hempstead, NY and North Plainfield, where she and her husband raised their family for over 40 years prior to relocating to White House Station in 2005.
Laila enjoyed working as a sales associate for Fred Lippitts Children's Clothing Store in Plainfield for many years.
Predeceased by her husband David and her sister Susie George, surviving are her four children, Joann George of Somerset, Charlie George and his wife Carrie of South Plainfield, Joyce Cortez and her husband Tony of Morgan Hill CA., and Robert George and his wife Lori of White House Station; five grandchildren, Amanda Welsh and her husband Stephen, Charlie , Michael, Anneliese and Alexandra and one great grandchild, Jack Welsh.
Laila is also survived by her sisters, Jeannie Zarou and her husband Eddie of Hicksville, NY, Judy Bevilacqua and her husband Tony of Carle Place, NY, Linda Joubran and her husband Victor of Falls Church, VA, Noelle Zaybak and her husband Nick of Hauppauge, NY; brother Peter Hanna and his wife Maha of West Hempstead, NY; brother inlaw, Showke George as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were Laila's passion and delight. She spent numerous winters in Florida enjoying and making lifelong friends with many. In addition to Florida, York Beach, Maine was always near and dear to her heart. She took pleasure in playing cards, attending senior trips with friends, and using Facebook, as well as Facetime with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 3-8pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:30AM at Saint Stephen the Protomartyr Church, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
