South Plainfield - Naheen "Nellie" Staats, 86, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough..
Born to the late Herbert and Mae Coury, Nellie was raised in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1948. She relocated to South Plainfield in 1953 and has been a resident since.
A former member of the South Plainfield Seniors, Nellie enjoyed playing cards, trips to Atlantic City and crafting. However, she most enjoyed spend time with her family.
Predeceased by her siblings, Betty Rose Bellek and Murad Coury and son-in-law-, James Weaver, surviving are her four children, William Staats and wife Heather, Randee Staats and wife Joanne, Karen Seader and husband Robert and Debbie Weaver and two brothers; Richard and Robert Coury.
She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren, Billy III, Samantha, Derek, Randee, Lauren, Robert Jr., Kelly, James III and Kevin and six great grandchildren, Skyler, Nathan, Jaxon, Dylan, Cole and Lily.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Wednesday from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 201 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
