Obituary of Frances Barrett

Frances "Jean" Rowland Barrett, 86, of Middlesex, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at RWJUH, Somerville after braving 3 battles with cancer. Born to the late Francis and Alice Rowland, she was raised in North Plainfield. She graduated North Plainfield High School where she was the head drum majorette. As a Catherine Gibbs graduate, who later attended Rutgers University, she worked as an executive secretary for Buffalo Tank in Dunellen and Revlon in Edison before her retirement in 1998. Jean was a member of the Middlesex Seniors, and the Presbyterian Church of Bound Brook. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, playing the organ and singing in Hope Chorus. Jean loved sports, especially the New York Mets & Rutgers Football. She enjoyed going on cruises with her sisters and daughters. Most of all, Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother who adored her grandchildren. They used to say she was their "Biggest Fan". She was known by all for her kind heart and generous spirit. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Barbara Lancaster. Surviving are her loving daughters, Robin Jean Barrett Thomson and husband Donald and Judith Lynn Seidel and husband Michael, her cherished grandchildren, Adam, Chris, Anna, and Leah, and her dear sister Carol Trunzo and her extended family and dear friends. Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Bound Brook Presbyterian Church 409 Mountain Ave, Bound Brook. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
