Scotch Plains, NJ - Frank Joseph DeFellipo, 88, known to many as "Cheech," passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit surrounded by his loving family. Born in Perth Amboy, Cheech grew up in South Plainfield, graduated from North Plainfield High School and resided with his family in Scotch Plains.
A self-employed sheet rocker, Cheech was a true family man who loved Sunday dinners with his family. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, an avid NY Yankees fan and was a true gentleman, never having anything bad to say about anyone.
He is predeceased by his wife Genevieve DeFellipo and by his son Frank Joseph DeFellipo, Jr.
Cheech leaves behind his three children; Michael DeFellipo of Plainfield, Laurel Turchin and Jessica Wilkins and her husband Bill all of Scotch Plains. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Les Turchin II, Scott B. Turchin, Jr., Johnny Martin Turchin, William G., Victoria L. and Sophia L. Wilkins, Joseph A. Monaco, his brother Anthony and his wife Shirley "Chris" DeFillipo and his two best canine friends, Buster and Patsy.
Visitation will be held in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 7:00pm - 9:00 pm and on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 9:15 am until 9:45 am.
On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, funeral services will be held 9:45 am in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church in Scotch Plains. Mausoleum entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum in Colonia.
