Obituary of Giulio Esposito
Giulio Esposito, 87, died surrounded by the love of his family on February 22, 2019.
Born and proudly raised in Sant Agata Sui Due Golfi, Naples, Italy to the late Orlando and Maria Grazia Esposito (nee Portanova), his family immigrated to Hoboken, New Jersey when Giulio was 16.
Mr. Esposito was drafted into the United States Navy in 1955 where he specialized in Aviation. After his honorable discharge in 1957, he went on to marry his beloved wife, Franca Ridi, whom he met in Cliffside Park before he was drafted. The Esposito’s settled in Jersey City where they raised their family. Giulio worked as a clerk in shipping and receiving for Western Electric in Kearney for 32 years before his retirement. He was a former resident of Avenel for 18 years before moving to South Plainfield in 2000.
Giulio was known for his excellent homemade wine and cooking. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends, and tending to his garden. Most of all, he enjoyed the quality time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Tony, Olindo, and Felice Esposito.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Franca Ridi Esposito, his loving children, Julius Esposito of New York, Linda Selander and husband Arthur of Bedford, VA, and Maria Amador and husband Alvin of Jackson, NJ, his cherished grandchildren, Monica and husband Earl, Steven, Jenna, Michael, David, and Julianna, his great granddaughter Nora, his dear sister Mary Tateo and husband Vinny of Walnut Creek, CA, as well as his extended family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at The Church of The Sacred Heart, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the funeral home.
