My Dear Auntie Azinet,
Love you and miss you. When my sisters and I were growing up in Micronesia, you were thousands of miles away and we already knew we were loved by you. You would always remember us and frequently sent us precious gifts even from far away. I remember being excited to meet you when we moved closer to you and I remember the first time we came to New York to visit you. We were so happy getting to meet you, seeing our mom with you, and listening to your fun stories and laughter. Thank you for everything you've shared with me. I thought we would have more time together.. we miss you Auntie.

Hi this is Judith Baptista ( co- worker from Lincoln Hospital). I"m so saddened about Azineth"s passing & mostly linked to this pandemic. I" ll always remember Azineth as a pleasant & kindhearted person who always has a smile on her face & does not seem to get upset. I will surely miss her. I would like to send my gift to a charity in her honor. This is for St . Joseph"s Indian School in Sioux Falls S.D. benefitting the Lakota children in Indian reservation. My prayers are to all of you that you'll have peace & comfort & remain strong & faithful. Stay strong & safe!

Azinet is a dependable and reliable coworker who has the passion and thirst for learning, sharing, and teaching scientific nursing knowledge to fellow colleagues and to those who are starting to tread the nursing profession at Lincoln Hospital.
As one who has fine taste for food, Azinet highly qualifies as a resource person when you want to indulge yourself to fine dining in the city with friends and family.
A hallmark which portrays her best is her irresistibly funny jokes and contagious laughter that brings joy and cheer, and brightens up the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit during moments when the NICU is plagued with problematic admissions.
But among other things, her cornerstone undoubtedly is serving Lincoln Hospital, specially the NICU and all its staff with utmost compassion, zeal, and diligence. Indeed, her commitment and loyalty to Lincoln Hospital deserves merit and praise.
To our dear friend and workmate, Azinet, may the grace, mercy, and the love of God be with you and may your soul rest in peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him."

Sharing some of the fondest memories we had are the ones that remind us of Azineth. Our trip to NY are beautiful times shared with her...our first trip to NY, no Uber yet and she tirelessly showed us around and teaching us how to use the subway... always bringing us to our favorite resto Sami’s in Coney Island. My kids grew up knowing her as my sister and calls her Auntie Azineth... these memories she left us are priceless. She will forever missed.

Net I will always remember when you and my sister always picked me up at the airport when I visited New York . I usually stayed for more than a month. Almost everyday we went strolling to Central Park near the east river, then we sat down on the bench while watching the ships and sailing boats as they passed by. We talked just about everything under the sun. You really like the sound of the waves . We do too. I wish you can stay much longer but God must have taught that you already did a good job and He wants you to rest now. We will see you again. You will be in our thoughts and prayers everyday. Thank you for everything.

On 09/11/01, after working at my hospital, I was on the train to Chinatown, and it announced; there was a shutdown on 14th street, I immediately got off and found out there was a terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, I started walking back at 9am with hundreds of people, when I reached 149st, at 4pm, I called Azinet and asked her if I can rest in her apartment because I was too tired to drive back to NJ, and without hesitation, she said yes. As soon as I reached the apartment, I dropped on the floor and slept. When I woke up there was a hot meal on the table, this kind of kindness can never be forgotten. I miss you Net. A lot.

Auntie Azinet was part of our family. I have known her since we first came to the U.S. when I was 13 years old; that was 28 years ago. I remember visiting her in the Bronx with my mom and my two sisters. I will never forget her smile when we first met her. We went to church with her that day. Then eventually went shopping with her in China Town, visited her at her apartment numerous times, and went to the movies with her. She was always full of life, and made us laugh; her laugh was indeed infectious. Writing this saddens me, and brings tears to my eyes because I cannot believe that she is gone. I miss her. I know that she is in a better place now. Hopefully one day we will meet again, with that same smile when we first met. I love you Auntie Azinet, I will forever miss you.

I will always remember Azinet just like she is in this picture, always with a smile and her eyes bright as she provided loving care to her patients. As a professional, she always gave her best, often seeking to improve her craft by constantly taking the initiative to educate herself. I distinctly remember that one day after completing her training on massage therapy for neonates, she was so excited to talk about the effects of massage on premature babies and could not wait to provide the care for her patients. This was Azinet, always thinking for others.
She was my “retirement planner”. We would talk endlessly about retirement. She made me download the retirement calculator app so I could plan my future. And we have a running joke ‘Are you ready”? Now, for me retirement is not so far away, so yes Azinet, I’m almost ready.
She was very family oriented. And this reflected in her persona because no matter how busy she was, she would find time to ask me about how my family was doing and we would exchange notes. Often learning from our conversations how generous and selfless she was. She barely had time to talk about herself.
The idea that you are gone is one that may not be in anyone’s imagination. I speak for the Lincoln Pediatric Service (NICU/PICU/Inpatient Peds), your co- workers when I say that you are sorely missed. We love you, Azinet. Rest now and go and join the Angels.

Azinet was one of my preceptors in the NICU. We would talk all night while working, it made the night go faster. She was an amazing person, very friendly and easy to work with. She always would tell me to further my nursing education, I can see her smiling right now. RIP my friend! You will always be remembered!

Nette, you were such a kind and caring person.
In December 1988, I was on a week assignment in Westchester NY...you and Heidi picked me up and gave me a tour of NY. Thank you Nette!
Way past midnight, I lost my sense of direction driving from Newark Airport to Heidi’s place...Heidi called you for direction but you instead stayed with me on the phone till I got to Heidi’s place. Thank you Nette!
And those many days when Heidi was in the hospital, not once you made me stay overnight in the hospital but you did stay instead. Thank you Nette!
For the many times when you, Heidi and I were going places, you were navigating/directing while I drove. Thank you Nette!
Very early in the morning, my wife and I were going to catch our flight and it was snowing heavy, thank you Nette for going down to the street and helped us clear the snow on my car. I remember vividly you were so worried the snow might block my vision and you would not let us go until the car was safe to drive.
On April 11, 2020, the last time we texted, my heart was broken when your messages got shorter than the prior days I was checking on you and you said, “Hirap huminga”, and “Mag shortness of breath ako sa sobra kati ng dry cough ko.” I felt the pain and that I can no longer assure you that you will be ok like in the prior days and all I could say was try to rest and take catnaps too.
Nette you were like our real sister, we loved you and will love you forever.
Your brother,
Alex Mungcal

You were like a big sister when I was just starting at Lincoln Hospital. I looked up to you for the kind of love you had to your family. You're the kind of daughter and sister that a family would envy.
Rest now my dear sister and may your family be comforted by God's infinite love and mercy.
