Obituary of Robert W. Engel
Robert William Engel-Remeta,
Chief Master Sergeant, USAF (Retired)
Robert William Engel- Remeta, age 75, passed away suddenly at his Piscataway home on April 19, 2023.
Bob was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 4, 1947. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Ira and Irene (Remeta) Engel, grandparents, Gabriel and Julia Remeta and Theresa Engel, aunts/uncles; Anna Kattowski, Eleanor Antonelli, Mary McGurk and Joseph Remeta; along with first cousins, Wayne Remeta, Mark Remeta, Charles McGurk and James McGurk.
Bob is survived by his Uncle Butch (Michael Remeta) and numerous living cousins; Michael Gabriel Remeta, Denise Remeta, Juliann Remeta, Renee Valente, Peter Kattowski, Martha Harth, Eileen Kastanas, Richard McGurk and surviving children of Charles McGurk and James McGurk; his former wife, Marcia Hanson, along with numerous Engel cousins.
Bob had a full and active life. He served faithfully and honorably for 41 years in the U.S. Air Force, both active duty and in the Vermont and New Jersey Air National Guard units. Bob’s tour of duty took him to numerous places including Vietnam. During his time in service, Bob earned numerous awards and commendations for which he was extremely proud.
Bob’s other avocations were performing with three local bands. He was also engaged in three businesses: Harvest Moon Bulletin Board, Custom Upholstery and Wild Willet Productions. He was emcee/announcer for New Jersey National Guard, Army and Air, the Voice of New Jersey Guard.
Bob was an active member of SAG/AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), AFM (American Federation of Musicians), and Mount Zion Lodge #135.
Bob made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed and will remain in our hearts.
May God grant him a restful peace...until we meet again.
Bob will be laid to rest on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:30am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ with the rendering of military full honors and joining his cousins James, Charles and Wayne in his final resting place.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Rd. Piscataway, NJ 08854.
