Obituary of Ana Isabel Carl

Middlesex, NJ – Ana Isabel Carl, 79, passed away peacefully at Center for Hope Hospice located in Elizabeth. Ana was born near Bogota, Colombia to the late Florentino and Rosa (Martinez) Ruiz and comes from a big family of siblings including, Cecilia, Amelia, Jaime, Alvaro, and Hernando.  Ana immigrated to the United States. She pursued a career in Biochemistry. Soon after she met the love of her life, John J. Carl. Together they lived in Newark, Maplewood, and Elizabeth while raising three children before retiring in Bogota, Colombia, S.A. They spent 44 years together before his untimely passing on March 21, 2022, in Bogota Colombia.  

Ana was a well-educated and hard-working woman. Once her family started growing, she then prioritized spending a majority of her life raising her three children.

Predeceased by her husband John J. Carl, Sr., Ana leaves behind her children; Claudia Zaleski (Richard) of Middlesex, Andrew Carl (Lucy) of Harrison and John Carl (Fran) of North Carolina. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren; Amberly, Lucien, Ethan, Emma, John-David, Isaiah and Elena.

Ana was described as a woman with a huge heart, kind, and full of love for all that she knew. She adored her husband and enjoyed traveling back and forth to the U.S.A. every year to visit her children. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and smile.

Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, September 20, 2024 beginning 3:00pm with concluding prayers at 5:30pm. At the request of the Carl family, cremation will be held privately.
