My great aunt Lottie was always my mom’s aunt but I’ve always known her as aunt Lottie. My mom and aunt Lottie have been more like sisters who grew up together with lots of childhood and teenage memories. They are also both breast cancer survivors. Lottie is my mom’s closest relative outside of her immediate family. I always think of Lottie as a strong willed and opinionated individual. I especially remember how eloquently she spoke at my dads funeral in Kenilworth - reading allowed -there is a time for everything. I’m glad my mom and I were able to see Lottie one last time this past Spring before I left for a job overseas. She found out that my mom had knee replacement surgery and she insisted on coming to visit. Keith drove aunt Lottie to my mom’s home in his pick up truck. Aunt Lottie was as graceful as always, using her walker to navigate inside my mom’s home, never complaining and smiling away as we had an afternoon lunch. My mom had some special snacks which Lottie thoroughly enjoyed. As we sat and had conversation Lottie kept smiling away nodding in delight every so often and that is how I’ll remember great aunt Lottie. I’m including a picture taken just before they drove off to go back home.

After knowing Lottie for several years through National Starch and Chemical Co., and through Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and its Altar Rosary Society, I knew her to be a thoughtful, loving, appreciative, giving person. She was a very sweet lady and I enjoyed our visits and interactions with each other. She was well liked and will be missed by all who knew her. God bless Lottie, and may she rest in peace. Love, Betty Roy
